I purchased an Earl's fuel filter for my car, when i fired it up the filter leaked at the removable housing end. I was not able to stop the leak by tightning it so I removed the filter and took it apart. I found the filter had about a teaspoon full of aluminum shavings in it from when it was machined....of course what aluminum was in the outlet side was now in my new Demon carb....thanks earl's...great quality control you have! Glad I bought a Demon instaed of a Holly!

Poor tech help

I purchased a Holley 770cfm Street Avenger. I installed it according to the installation instructions. Holley said to connect the vacuum advance hose to the 'Ported' connection on the carb. From a dead stop it bogged very bad. I rechecked everything. Same results. I checked their on-line tech section. I called their tech. After being on hold for over twenty minutes, their tech guy told me the vacuum line connection was correct and I should check my vacuum. I thanked him and checked the vacuum at idle in gear. Vacuum was OK. I switched the vacuum line to 'Full' vacuum connection. Problem solved!!! Great carb but poor tech help!

We have used Holley carburetors on many project vehicles since way back in the early 60's. These included a tri-power 371 Olds slingshot dragster, twin 660's on a 350 B/SR, a W-30 Olds street warrior, a modified S-15 4X4 and many others. We still use them because Holley always has the right carb(s) for the application, and the required parts to tune or modify them. We have called on Holley for support a few times and they have not failed us yet. We recently called on the Custom Shop for help in modifying a 4150 with vaccuum secondaries for jet boat use (something we are new to). They were most helpful and put us on the right track in one very informative and very pleasant phone call.

I am no expert on carbs but I had leakey secondaries on my '68 3x2 427 Vette. After a tellephone conversation with Holley they convinced me to send them in as they will flow them and make them like new again keeping to the original specification for my Corvette even told me to tke them off leveing everything one them as they will make sure it will get bay to the correct color. I was very explicit on wanting all of my old parts back as these carbs were untouched and I want to keep them for originality. Well they lost all my orginal parts including linkage clips, aircleaner lug, one linkege piece. I know they are little things but they are very rare and costly on a Vette. Did not even put the filters back in the carbs. I know Hi performace you do not want them but in a car you trying to kept original to begin with ? They are out of tune. The car runs terrible and I will probably have to rejet. I figure I will do it myself because, when I called to fing out what jets they put in they had no clue. They claimed the flowed them, but gave me no data to support it. I will send my Holley carbs elsewhere from now on. This is pretty bad becuase Holley makes great carbs.

The first carb I ever bought was a Holley twenty years ago. Aside from a few adjustments needed here and there(float adjustment, mixture adj.,etc.) I consider them a good carb. I consider them easy to rebuild, easy to get parts for, and when tuned right an excellent performance carb. I've run double pumpers on the drag strip and am currently running a 600c.f.m. vac. sec. w/electric choke on my mustang. On the coldest morning Jersey has to offer that Holley fires her right up and then takes me to work (sideways most of the ride). I've found no reason in twenty years to try anything else.

I've been using Holley products almost exclusively since the 60's.. I find them the easiest to tune and the most versatile carb on the market. At the dragstrip their Company Reps alway have time to help with a repair or tuning and give advice. If you walk thru the pits there is a reason it is the most popular brand. For the street you can get good advice on sizes and applications from their catalog or thru their web site.

E-mailed Holley technical dept. Asked them for measurements and dimensions on some sprint car headers ( over the frame)that they make in thier Hooker Header division. They e-mailed me back and told me that they did not know what they were. How in the world do they make them if they do not know that? I e-mailed them back and told them that I could not buy something without that info, because I have to know that they are going to fit and if they could not furnish me with the info that I would have to buy another manufacturers product. They e-mailed me back and told me that that was the thing to do and to have a nice day. What happened to the customer is always right? and try to help the customer? Another manufacturer of headers Sanderson sent me drawings , specs, price lists, dealer list etc. also told me they would sell direct because there was not a dealer close by. Guess where I bought the headers? from them because they helped me, they did not think I was bothering them, they wanted me for a customer. Holley is the pits I was going to buy a carburetor from them also but I bought an Edlebrock
