I am on my 3rd set of hedman headers and the quality the craftsmanship that is on these headers look like a 1st year high school shop project.Unfortunately my car was setup for this specific header. The so called "Coach Builder" who did my sheetmetal work did not install the headers[his request to have the headers there] when he was fitting the fenders and guess what the fender hits hard against the left header fwd tube. So I checked that header and could see that that tube was not set in the flange properly.I also checked the specs page Jegs has and it 3.25 inchs from the face of flange to outside tube.I measured mine and it was 4 inches on one end and 3.25 on the other end.So I called Hedman and talked to Dave C and he told me that is the way they are and there is nothing they can do.Then he asked me where I found that dimension because he said the dimension is 4.5 inches. The problem is that I bought these 3yrs ago and of coarse they are htc ones. Then I called Jegs and told them my situation and they were nice enough and said I can send them back. I ordered another set but not in htc because I have to modify that tube according to Hedman. I recieved the headers today and problem tube is installed better but still needs work but now the head flange is warped and not useable. So I called Jegs again and they are going to open the boxes and check the headers before they send me a 4th set, one set had 2 left sides.I emailed Hedman but of coarse no response. Jegs have been very helpful,If this is what USA stuff is made like no wonder our country is in trouble.Sorry for being so long winded and would not use The "Coach Builder" either I wont mention his name but he did my sheet metal work on my 33 Willys.

4.0/5.04.0/5.04.0/5.04.0/5.04.0/5.0   Great price, no problems
Reviewer: Anonymous     April 02, 2005
When I was first considering putting headers on my '64 Chevy Impala, I was doubtful that I would be able to find a cheap brand-name mass-produced type header for the application. I thought for sure I would have to save up forever for custom jobbies. Luckily I looked into Hedman's header line and was surprised to find they offer header models for, like, EVERYTHING, and they only set me back 150/pr FROM A RETAILER!! The construction quality was fine, nice beefy flanges, good welds, and a kit was included with the gaskets and bots. I haven't had a problem since (they're about 2 yrs. old)... the only problem I had was the need to lift the engine for installation. Not owning a hoist myself, a local mechanic installed them for a minimal price. All-in-all, the project still came in WAY cheaper, faster, and easier than I had imagined it would for my somewhat obscure application, and I would recommend anyone who hasn't checked these guys out, should.

3.0/5.03.0/5.03.0/5.03.0/5.03.0/5.0   I had to modify to fit Olds 455 in a 66 cutlass.

It seems to me that they forgot about the steering column on a 66 cutlass. I had to bend and dimple so headers would not rub on column. With getting more miles on the cutlass this summer I will find out if the torque rock will affect the hedders more. Joe W

2.0/5.02.0/5.02.0/5.02.0/5.02.0/5.0   I agree that hedman has a "don't care" attitude.

I have installed several sets of Hedman headers on '73-'87 small block Chevy trucks. On every set the collector on the passenger side hits the frame. I expressed the problem to one of the preppies in the Hedman booth at the last hotrod parts manufacturer's trade show in Louisville ( Miss CEO of Hedman was standing there too but seemed to me to be dis-interested and walked away). He "sort of" knew what I was talking about but "there would not be any changes made in the design". Not what I expected with the motto "The hedder that fits". Maybe they should change it to "The header that almosts fits but we really don't care if it does or not". Perhaps Charlie Van Cleve will read this and they can laugh about it at the next SEMA Party.

3.0/5.03.0/5.03.0/5.03.0/5.03.0/5.0   Great headers, but terrible customer service.
Reviewer: rhammon@nemonet.com from Hannibal, Missouri     February 27, 2003
I am restoring a 1969 Corvette Stingray roadster, 427 with factory sidepipes. My engine builder ordered my headers for me, as Hedman will not deliever to individuals. We asked for the headers to have their (HTC) coatings. After several weeks, the headers arrived; however, they were just painted black, not having the high-temp coating. To make matters worse, they were for a small block, not a big block. They also had air rails which we specified we did not want. We send them back. Several weeks later the next set arrives: yes coated, yes big block, yes for side-pipes; however, we receive two left-side headers. Again, we send back, a couple of weeks later, finally the correct right-side header.

I have used Hedman headers on several vehicles, loved the performance and economy boost, great sound! I just could not believe their "whatever" attitude, no apology, no explanations, nothing. I felt like I deserved better, don't you think that you also deserve better? All I know is that they set back my rebuild and engine reinstall by months! Hell, I ought to get a damn t-shirt or something, if nothing else for all the extra shipping I had to pay for. Thanks for letting me express my thoughts! R. Hammon
