My 34 Ford 3 window rolling chassis was delivered from Gibbon fiberglass with a Roadster Shop chassis. It is a quality piece of work with very professional welds. I found several things I would like to change on it however. The way they mount the master cylinder/booster makes it impossible to route exhaust through the X member. Ground clearance is an issue on my car, so going under the X member was out of the question. I called them and asked how they do this. They sent me a pic of a frame they had in their shop at the time. They had routed the exhaust between the two X members (not through them) and up alongside the transmission tailshaft. The pipes were all mitered and had all kinds of sophisticated angles. Not exactly what a do it your selfer needs. In addition the trans in the car was a T56, I have a 700R4 which allowed them more clearance. The pipes were so close to the trans that heat was sure to be an issue. Also the X member comes too far foward and at too shallow of an angle, and on the right side the pan of my 700R4 is very close to the lower X frame pipe...too close IMO. To solve the brake problem, I did away with the power booster and moved the master cylinder back enough that allowed the routing of exhaust through the X member. Also the location of the booster/cylinder was such that the brake pedal was never going to operate properly with the body on the frame without drastically modifying the floorboard. It took several attempts with a torch to massage the pedal assembly in to something that would work.

I like the frame and these problems are to be expected when building a street rod. I am very satisfied with the remainder of the frame.
