Corky Coker, the owner of Coker Tire, is a Jerk

We think that Corky Coker, the owner of Coker Tire, is a jerk. Actually, we think a lot worse of him, but all we're going to say is "jerk".

Corky Coker, 2005 SEMA an of the Year

Why do we think Corky Coker is a jerk? Here's why:

A photo of two guys wearing nothing but women's thong underwear was posted on our hotrodding forums. Oddly, the thong underwear was imprinted with the slogan "Spank My Monkey": here's the photograph. Also, a video in which some loser said that he was "quickly establishing himself as the Anti-Christ of the Hot Rod World" was posted on our forums (more info here: summary).

In the video, Coker Tire, the world's largest supplier of vintage tires, was prominently mentioned. We figured they were probably a sponsor. So, we asked the owner of Coker Tire, Corky Coker, about it. We thought he'd want to set the record straight and apologize. We were wrong.

Corky Coker registered on our hotrodding forums, and publicly spoke to our members. It was the biggest public relations fiasco we've seen in over seven years of running Hotrodders.com.

First, we asked Corky Coker about his company's involvement in the "Spank My Monkey" photograph, or the "Anti-Christ of the Hot Rod World" video. Corky tried to push us around with silly word tricks, and intimidate us with legal scare tactics. You can see his exact post here: Corky's answer to our questions.

He did this while he reprinted a private email on our forums, something that's considered a legal "grey zone", at best.

Don't worry, we schooled him. First, we completely shut him down: Corky gets shut down. Then, we analyzed his word tricks so that everyone could see: Corky gets picked apart. And, after Corky got his spanking, something happened that you won't believe...

A brand new member registered on our forums, under the mysterious username of "Man". "Man" made his first post in the same controversial discussion as Corky Coker. In the title of his post, "Man" printed the full name and town of residence of the Hotrodders.com administrator. Then, "Man" said some pretty crazy stuff, like this:

"you don't have half the brain cells to comprehend what Mr. Coker was trying to explain to you"

And, he called us:

"small minded imbeciles with a brain capacity just barely high enough not to be called brain dead"

He also said:

"watch what you say and who you say it to. You never know when it may really come back to bite you"

We're shaking in our boots. But, really, our favorite was when he said:

"you're jealous because you're not on tv"

Whoever "Man" was, it seemed like he was trying to threaten us.

Guess what we found out. "Man" was using the exact same IP address as Corky Coker, and had been posting from the same location: Coker Tire headquarters in Chattanooga, TN. Here's where he gets called out: the evidence. Here's the screenshot:

Corky Coker gets caught

What a surprise. Here's the complete text of the post that he posted, when he thought he was posting anonymously:

Threatening Coker post

As soon as we posted our discovery on the forum, a Coker Tire "representative" immediately posted a lame apology, from the same Coker Tire IP address. Here it is: a lame apology from a Coker Tire "representative". Why was it a lame apology? Here's why:

In the apology, the Coker Tire "representative" said: "The post was not made by Mr. Coker, as he is out of the country at this time".

Out of the country at this time

We're not really sure what that means. Mr. Coker made the first post, didn't he? We figure it was him because he registered with the username "Corky Coker", he signed his post "Corky Coker", he posted from a Coker Tire IP address, and, in his post, he re-printed an email that we sent directly to Coker Tire. Was he in the country when he made that post? Did he make that post, and then leave the country, and then someone else made the second post?

Also, we're not experts, but we thought that the internet was accessible all over the world. Maybe Corky was visiting a country where they don't have the internet -- like Mars. Or, maybe Corky went to a country where people aren't allowed to speak freely on the internet. Like China.

Anyway, we're not really sure. We must not be very smart. However, we would like to speak with Corky Coker. Specifically, we would like an apology. Of course, we don't want to bother him while he's "out of the country". So, Corky, as soon as you get back in the country, please stop by the Hotrodders Bulletin Board and explain yourself. We'll be waiting.

Oh, and by the way, Corky, we'd also like you to read this exact quote from Coker Tire, posted on our board:

"Watch what you say and who you say it to. You never know when it may really come back to bite you."

We think that a member of the Hotrodders Bulletin Board said it best: "Ouch, all credibility lost."

Ouch, Corky.

Ouch, ouch, ouch.

All credibility lost.
