01 Blazer fuel pump

Two months ago I replaced the fuel pump in my son's 01 Blazer.
For the last week or so he has been complaining about hard start problem when cold.
Because of his work schedule I have not been able to check much.
Last night it would not start at the mall so I went down with some gas in a can and found it would start if I put gas into the intake.
i changed the fuel pump Raleigh with another one with the same numbers on it.
my guess is defective new fuel pump but what do I know. I'm a transmission guy.
got pump from pep boys.

Thanks for any help

Bob

Some aftermarket pumps are junk. I have had issues with the Airtex brand before and won't use them now. Can you hear the pump humm when you cycle the key?

fuel pump

No I can't hear the pump.

I didn't see anything wrong with the connector when I disconnected it from the tank so I'm guessing it's the pump.

fuel pump

Car died at mall Friday night.
Poured Son gas into the intake and it started and stalled.
Picked up my son and friend.
Towed to shop and found no fuel pressure.
Defective fuel pump less than 2 months old.

Three Stooges

Avoid the "Three Stooges". Did Pep Boys replace the pump under their warranty?
