The point in the video was to show you that it WILL be louder. This is a fact. I cannot say how much louder it will be- but I'd rather you know now than have it come as a surprise later.
I would think anything would be better than a leaking resonator, though- from a sound as well as a safety standpoint- CO can infiltrate the cabin if the exhaust is leaking beneath the vehicle.
But unless you want to pay the $75 for a resonator (not that bad, really), there are no other options except maybe finding a cheaper resonator from another vehicle, or take a chance on the sound level.
