03 Ford Ranger 3.0 rough idle ????

i have a 2003 ford ranger with a 3.0 113,000 miles engin the truck was put on a scanner n it shows notting just says the truck is running great shows no problems what so ever ...... but the truck sometimes has a rough idle sometimes so bad itll stall .......... i could start it now n it might be perfect for hours but then i could start it now have the rough idle go drive then maybe hour later its gone running perfect but then again it could just stay rough..... cant figure out why ??????????????? does anyone know what it could be ??? or what to try ??? thank you Rob

common problem. clean the idle air control. they carbon up.

Lower intake leaks are pretty common on those. Look at the fuel trims, short term left and right.If one or both is too high (adding over 5%) chances are the intake is sucking air. Clean the IAC first and the throttle body as mentioned here earlier. See how it turns out. Good luck.
The MAF should be cleaned also, be careful with it so as not to break it.
