I have 440 the bore taper is just within spec, I want to save myself another teardown in 40-50K, So I am going to overbore the cylinders. I read somewhere that the later 440s had thin casting walls and the .020 was the recomended maximum. Any truth to this, anyone gone .030 over with a 76-78 440? It seems like .030 pistons are a dime a dozen but I don't see many .020???
TIA <img src="confused.gif" border="0"> |

No worries, .30 over will be just fine.

I disagree don't bore your block unless you get the block sonic tested the walls are very thinI believe there are plenty of older or pre 73 blocks around . good luck in your venture

I heard the same thing about the newer 440's, I just used an older block to be on the safe side. A little now is better than a lot later
