04 GTO, want 425-450 HP plus NOS

ive just bought a goat and the 350 hp just isnt enough. im trying to get to 425-450 on motor. if i do headers, ehaust, and chip im guessing about 390(+-) hp. ive looked at comp cams and lunati and im looking at a 278/282 cam kit. is that enough to hit 425? or do i need a $900 F.A.S.T. intake? also i would eventually like to add a 100-125 shot of nitrous sometime later. its completely stock except for the k&n intake. thanks.

ps does the auto trans 4L65E need upgrading for this or is a deep pan good enough.

If you title your threads better, you will get more responses, I'm editing this one.

For 450 HP, along with a 125 shot, you will need to take a serious look at your drive train, including the differential. What's your budget? Are you concerned about emissions testing?

Your best bet would be to install a supercharger. With that you can come close to reaching your horsepower target and not have to worry about mounting and having to refill the nitrous bottle.

You don't chip the GTOs, the ECM gets reflashed. A supercharger should come with the correct program and all you would have to do is follow the instructions to flash it. You can also spend the money and buy tuning software like EFI Live, HP Tuners, LS1 Edit, etc... and do it yourself. The last option requires that you know what you are doing though.

thanks 68novaSS for the edit. no im not worried about emmisions but a supercharger is out of the budget. id love it but not for the 6500 magnuson and other companys want for the kit. nos is 600 for the kit. so total i guess 2500 bucks for cam kit, programmer, headers, etc. i guess that would have to be more with a trans upgrade and new rear diff. i would like to keep it a daily driver so im not looking for 4.11s in the rear as the 4 speed auto is already at 2500 at 75. stock ratio is 3.43 id like 3.23 for a lower highway rpm. yeah it hurts me off the line but its more of a play thing not a drag racer. thanks guys for the help.

A healthy cam plus bolt-ons like headers, cat-back, CAI will get you the hp you want. My friend has a nasty cam-only F-body that puts out 440hp to the wheels, but his cam is BIG and requires fly-cutting the pistons. Go to youtube and type in MS3 or MS4 and listen to the sound clips. My friends cam is a version of the street sweeper.
