.040 over 305 cam choices

right now, im running a Lunati BracketMasterII 00016 cam and lifter kit. while im not quite satisfied with its performance, ive been thinking about 2 other cams. both are Melling cams, one with 204/214 duration with .420/.443 lift and the other is 214/224 duration with .443/.465 lift. the Lunati has 218/218 duration with .458/.458 lift.

the motor has stock Q-Jet carb, dual plane intake, Dynomax headers with 2 1/2" dual exhaust.

which cam would you chose for your 305, theoretically speaking ?

Theoretically speaking, since I know nothing about your car or what you are trying to accomplish,

I would go to CompCams and step into the XE-H series cam and stick with a .050 duration of about 210. After all, this is not a 400+ cubed SBC. Note: Your valve lift might be limited by your heads and springs.

Cam lift and duration numbers compared brand to brand mean virtually nothing.

Also I bet you need a good distributor curving and carb tuning.
