'06 Monte Carlo
If this posts correctly, here's the "new" Monte Carlo for '06. Finally it has a V8, but it's still FWD.
Looks to me like GM needs some new youth in the design department. IMO, the Monte Carlo nameplate should have stayed dormant until something better than that comes along. I will give the body guys at GM credit though for grafting a Cobalt front end to an '04 Monte Carlo body. I for one am not impressed. Let me know what you guys think. What a letdown... GM needs to get off their dead arses and come up with something exciting. Look at Chrysler and Ford, maybe a slip into 2nd or 3rd place would motivate GM to take some steps to improve styling. Horsepower wars seem to be "on" again, what's GM going to offer besides the Corvette and a GTO, neither of which is getting rave reviews. The new Mustang is going to sell like hot cakes, the Magnum and 300 are hot sellers, G.M. is still stumbling around in the dark. It's a shame.
I've favored GM products most of my life but wouldn't buy one today. Dan

Killer, sorry it doesn't come up for you. Did you scroll down to see the whole front page? It pulls right up for me.
Dan, I'm 100% a GM guy, but with this type of a revamp, I really wish they'dve killed the Monte and left it dead. It seems to me like the new Monte (5th, 6th, and now 7th gen) is always getting hand-me-downs. 2 door Lumina, then a de-tuned (I believe) 3800 Grand Prix motor, then a supercharged de-tuned 3800 GTP motor, and now a Cobalt nose. If I'm wrong, please correct me. Maybe I'm right and missed something else hand-me down. Please let me know. |

dang, can't see it. Its aiight, I'll just search for it later on. If it has any of the influence of the new GTO, I'm sure it sucks hard.

GM has always played it safe and catered to the masses....This is why they are #1 and always will be. Their engines may not have been quite as powerfull, but they stayed together better. Same with the body styles, a little more conservative, but better built. I am a GM guy too, but they are not "Wild and Crazy" guys. I guess they know what they are doing. |

Welcome
I personally don't like it, looks like what it is, the last Monte with a different front end. It just doesn't fit the car. I don't believe you should reface cars, they just look like thats all you did. That car was designed to flow with the original front end. I like the idea of the V8 though, even if it is FWD |

I am kinda different on points of view with some of the newer cars.I do like the looks of the Monte and that SS is nice. You can get the thrill of a V8 again in one,the interior layout is nice and seems to flow well. Not the best looking Monte Carlo ever made by far,but still a nice finished product.Just as long as they do not do some "pre-production adjustments."

i think it's cool that the monte will have a V8 now. too bad they dont put the 06 'vette engine in it though. that would be awesome.
