yes, early '55's looked like the old '54 and below trucks, but about mid year, Chevrolet released the new tri 5 design truck, which would be the '55 second series

They also were placed on the 1955 2nd series frame.

48-54 are essentially the same as the first series 55
I am sure there are differences. There are even complete cab & doors available reproduction/aftermarket-------I think Dynacorn (69 Camaro people)

2nd series 55 thru 59.

Might be able to get more info in DoubleDick's "chatroom post".
A lot of people with both styles are bantering there even though the post was started with 55-59 trucks

I think he is up to close to 40 pages of posts now.
