1,200 HP Supercharged BBC

Ok so I have got a friend (cousin actually) who wants to build a 1,200 HP/TQ Supercharged Chevy Big Block. My thoughts to him was that he is crazy for even wanting to build something like this. But to each his own I guess. So my questions for you are what is is really going to take to reach his goal? In my head I figured a Dart block and heads, all forged rotating assembly, custom solid roller cam, 8-71 blower, duel 750 carbs, roller rockers, and big inch headers. Is there anything else really needed? He knows about needing low compression, O-ringing the block, and other obvious things. Anyone have a setup that they have already ran to make this kind of power? He has got about 25K to spend on the whole project so cost really isnt an issue with him. I have no idea what kind of tranny he will want to run, but its safe to assume it will be an automatic.

Thanks for the help in advance.

Safe to assume an automatic is right. He could spend 10 grand on a manual tranny and it would still be on borrowed time with that kind of power.

His 25k mark can be done though. A lot of dough to throw at the motor. He will need another 15k in upgrading the drive line, suspension, and chassis to accept that kind of toque as well. Definitely keep us posted on the progress. Id like to see the combination he comes up with.

Oh I will. I am not sure when he going to have the build started. I am going to assume since I know my cousin, its just going to be a show car with some drives on weekends. I honestly have no idea why he would want that much..He wants to put it all into a later model second gen Firebird. Like a 79-81. I am trying to talk him into the early 70's model.

His original plan was to buy a 502, and then put a supercharger on it. I then explained that that just is not a good idea, and to just build one all from scratch. Am I wrong?
