From A 1 Ton to a 1/2 ton

I have a 1949 chev 1 ton that we are looking to change to a half ton. Is there a frame that from a newer truck that will work on this old beast? If not where would a guy start looking for a old one to restore?

I also would need the box as well. Any tips would help
Thank you in advance

Flanders

my uncle has a 1930 ford truck that he converted into a 1/2 ton. He used the orignal frame but made it shorter.

a one ton frame wieghs almost 1000 lbs MORE then the half ton frames & are almost 1/4 inch thick. what ya might want to do to make it easy or simpler is to either stretch a 1/2 ton frame to make it LOOK like a 1 ton. they are the same width, just make sure the body mounts ar in the correct place OR make your truck a TRUE 1/2 ton & leave the 1/2 ton frame alone since it's a shorter wheel base & everything you have will bolt rite up to it...

orrrrrrrrrrrr, try a s10 frame swap http://www.usbody.com/Pages_Info/F-Installations.htm scan down to the 47-54 mock up....joe
