10 bolt to 14 bolt gm upgrade

I have replaced my gm 10 bolt with a 14 bolt semi float rear in 96 chev pickup 1/2ton. The u joints are smaller. Do I need a 3/4 ton shaft or have one custom made

U-Joints

Have run into this a few times a long time ago. My solution was a '76 Ford 4X4 front driveshaft U-joint. One side is wider than the other. Might work for you and I know it's been used on several other applications. I just can remember the Ford because I replaced one and was surprised it was the same one I had used on Chevies. Worth checking out.
