10 sec caddy

Hey everyone i have a 90 caddilac deville that I want to turn into a mid to high 10 second drag car I'm stuck on what i want to do yet so was wondering if y'all have any ideas or thoughts about it. Its not something you see everyday on the track so i think it would be pretty cool and unique.

Strip the car, 300 shot, drag radials on the front tires and pray for the transaxle to make to the end of the line.

This would be extremely difficult, all the dynamics are going wrong. Acceleration induced weight transfer unloads the front tires, they go up in smoke. The independent suspension has many flexable joints that allow too much motion to adaqualty support the transfer of that kind of power. I have no idea whether the components inside the transaxle are designed for that kind of power. Drag racing is very violent on these parts, this is why except in their own classes you don't see FWD machines dragging. Now the Caddy body mounted on a tube frame with a big block Caddy engine hooked to a T56 or a TH400 pumping power down a driveshaft to a 12 bolt rear end stands a good chance of both being fast and staying together for more than a couple rounds.

Of course anything is doable with enough money.

Bogie

Yeah i was thinking of changing it from FWD to RWD and yeah right now i have a 72 buick gs that runs in the mid 12s so i know how hard it is on the car, but i was thinking about putting a big block chevy or ford motor in the caddy even if i couldnt get it in the 10s id be happy with low 11s I just feel it would be more cost effective to use a chevy or ford motor.

Doing a quick search and keeping it cadillac named swap out front end with a newer version. Either the 32 valve 8 or even a newer 6 cyl with some bolt ons would work. If ya do the northstar 8 its a really solid platform so not much would be needed for a good starting point for power. Remove everything throw some coils and bars on it and you could probably pull 12s with stock northstar. Throw some internals and bolt ons onto it youll hang good. All comes down to build pocket...
