I've read that article and know what it's for. But Powermaster claims the terminal on their regulator does not actually do anything, it's just there to use the stock harness. They said in a later email that the voltage regulator in their alternators is different from the 10si/12si, but that you can swap in one of the GM regulators in place of it. Theirs supports one wire use with the idiot light as an option - and there is in fact no remote voltage sensing.

I think it would be ideal to have it, but it doesn't seem to matter much in my case as there's hardly any voltage drop with the thick wire.
