11 1/2 bolt circle torque converter
ok i have a 64 impala and need some advice. my dad just had a 700r4 trans rebuilt awhile ago and dropped off a new torque converter last week, just open the box and noticed it won't work the bolt holes on the converter are 9 1/2 and the flexplate on my 454 are 11 1/2 bolt circle. I know this is a stupid question but waht would be the best option? get a torque converter that will fit a 11 /12 bolt circle flexplate or get a new flexplate? thanks

I would try and exchange the one you have for the right one if it's new. If not then get a different flex plate. Pay attn. to the tooth count as some flex plates have different amount of teeth. :D

Am i missing something??? i have a 454 bbc and am mating it to a rebuilt 700r4 and running into issues with the torque converter. The flexplate on the motor measure 11 1/2 bolt pattern and the torque converter given to me has a 9 1/2 well, cant seem to find a converter with a 11 1/2 bolt cirlce pattern to bolt to the flexplate... What do i need to be looking for ? Im sorry if this is an idiotic question but i have been getting the run-around lately, so any advice would be great!

I had this same issue with a Caddilac motor and a t 400..I wound up with going to Hughes Performance to get a converter that fits and works..and has the stall that I needed..turned out it was the most cost effective for me..
