12 bolt to 14 bolt 77 c10

Hello,

My truck is a 1977 c10 with a 12 bolt truck axle. I'm worried it wont hold up and have found a 10.5" 14 bolt ff. What do I do about brakes? I was going to convert the 12 bolt to cross drilled disks (13" outta LMC). Was gonna run 20" rims to clear em.

Forgot to add that I'm thinking about a TKO-600 or T-56 mag tranny. It will have a supercharged 454 so worried about breaking stuff...

If you're that worried about breaking the rear,go to a 9" Ford rear. Some were a bolt in for those trucks & even had factory disc brakes. I would not put a 8 lug rear in it.

thanks for the website.

Why not an 8 lug? Lack of rim selection?

Not really a fan of the 9" but I do plan on looking in the "junkyard" (sad junkyard) for one while I'm there.

Brakes... If I found a factory disk than I could just plug my lines into it? Of course I see I need to switch my proportion valve for one for disks all around.

No one mentioned it but not worried about suspension lining up because going to 4-link with coil overs.

Greg

Oh yeah, kinda worried about breaking it. I hear the pinion stem is small on the 12 bolt truck axle. Thing is the ring broke on it
