Just wondering is there any difference between a 69' Camero 12 Bolt and a 70's Chevy truck 12 Bolt 5 Lug rear end besides the spring perch location? Are the truck 12 Bolts suitable for drag strip applications ? assuming that the gears and carier would be changed?

I ran into that situation a while back. No they aren't the same even though you would think a truck should be stronger than a car but in this case it's not. The truck 12 bolt rear has a smaller ring gear diameter and housing therefore making it weaker than a car 12 bolt rear. The car 12 bolt uses a 8.75 ring gear which is very durable and almost bullet proof. The only thing stronger is a ford 9 inch.
