12 Bolt chevy gears questions

Hey fellas,
I've been looking for gears for the past couple weeks on ebay and craigslist, and I think i finally found a pretty good deal, but i could use some help picking the right one because I dont wanna be stuck with something i cant use. the item in question are some 3.73 Gears for a 12 bolt 69 Camaro Z28(41-11). I've got a 74 Chevy Shortbed with a 12 bolt rear as well, and it would seem that these gears would be perfect for my truck but the only thing i'm not sure about is the ring and pinion diameter. Hopefully someone can tell me if these parts are just flat out interchangeable, or if they cant be swapped at all. Thanx

Don't pay extra for the description 69 Z/28 gears, all 12 bolts are the same, there are no specific gear sets for 69 Z/28 or for that matter Camaro period.

So your saying that a GM 12 bolt 8.5 "C" Axle (That which is used in a camaro) is the same thing as a GM 12 Bolt 8.875 (Truck Axle), Even tho the Diameter of the Pinion in the Truck axle is 1.438" and the diameter of the Pinion used in the camaro is 1.625"? You would think the Difference in Diameters would change things up a bit?

The parts will not interchange! 12 bolt car and 12 bolt truck use different gear sets.

Both car and truck 12 bolts are a 8.875 ring gear. What ratio do you have now? and what ratio do you want to go to?

You will need a THICK ring gear set for what your doing like this >> http://www.ringpinion.com/ProductDet...spx?ProdID=544

You can do some shopping on the net for the best prices,Just make sure your looking at a gear set for the 12 bolt "truck", it's a "thick" ring gear and the gear set fits 342 and higher ratio's.

I was under the impression that CAR 12 bolts and TRUCK 12 bolts were completely different animals.
Are you experts saying the ring and pinion from one will interchange into the other?

Sorry, I di not mean to imply that all 12 bolts were the same, only that a gear set that went into a 69 Z/28 12 bolt was no different than any other gear set for Camaro, or Nova. A lot of people pass off stuff as for a 69 Z/28 when it's not.
