12 bolt gear options?
Hey everyone
I'm looking to change the gears in my GM 12 bolt passenger car rear end. Its currently a 3.07 and I would like to go to a 3.90. However it looks like the highest I can go with the stock carrier is 3.73, is this correct? or do the aftermarket ring/pinion sets work with higher gear ratios? Thanks Jordon

Idk for the 12 bolt but for dana axle they sell thick gear sets to use the 3.73 down carrier. Im assuming they should to for the 12 bolt

The 3.07 fits a 3 series differential in the Chevy 12 bolt car rear end. You can go as far as a 4.88 on the 3 series with the thick after market gears. There are special thick 3.91, 4.11, 4.56 and 4.88 gears that fit the 3 series.
