Trying to get axle length info. I don't know what this rear end came out of. There were only 2 sizes, right? 28.25" or 29.5" My axle code is DH 10 30 G. Flange # is I 154. An new Eaton unit (series 3 carrier) is currently in there with in/out axle play of 1/8" which seems right.

DH 10 30 G

Probably:
DH = 1965-1969 Posi 3.31:1 (15/16000 H.D. series)
(note that below the DH code is a D or E code (Dana or Eaton posi unit)
10 30 = October 30
G = Detroit Gear and Axle (plant)

Bolt dia=3/8
Ring Gear dia=8.875
Pinion dia=1.625
Axle splines=30
Axle tube flange to axle tube flange=58 1/4
Between centerlines of control arm brackets=43 1/8
Axke shaft length=31 15/32

Possibly:
DH = 1975 Monza 2.56:1
10 30 = October 30
(problem is after 1970 they used day of the year ex: Jan 30=030)
G = Detroit Gear and Axle (plant)

I get DH is '65-'69, 3.31 gears which were in there. How do we measure the axle length? I got my lengths from the Summit catalog, Moser axles.

Axle length data (12 BOLT)

31 15/32 - 65-69 Passenger
28 27/64 - 65-67 Nova
29 9/16 - 68-69 Nova
29 9/16 - 65-67 Chevelle
30 1/8 - 68-69 Nova
29 9/16 - 67-69 Camaro

Check with Moser (online? or call), they will have more axles than Summit listed. Get a part number and a price. Then go back to summit, see if they can price the part number (might be less than direct from Moser).
