12 bolt olds swap

Hi everyone.I am totally new at posting questions so please bear with me.I have purchased one of the in infamous 12 bolt cover 10 bolt carrier Olds rear ends made in 1968-1970.I now realize my mistake but too late to return the housing.I was wondering if a GM 8.5 out of a 1980 Camaro will fit my housing.I counted the axle splines and they are the same (28 spline). Also the carrier bearings seem to fit in the housing. None of the other forums talked any further if they were interchangeable. Any information on this olds rear end would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

12 bolt olds swap

I have just measured the ring gear on my old carrier out of the olds diff and it is a 8.5 ring gear which would indicate that it is a 1971-1972.So i was wondering if now maybe a GM 1980 8.5 posi carrier will fit the 1971-1972 olds housing. Thanks for the quick reply and info Hippie. From all the info i have read it says no GM 12 bolt parts fit ,but no where can i find any info that says if i have a olds 1971-1972 housing with an 8.5 ring gear if GM 8.5 carriers will fit. Any info anyone has would be great. Thanks
