Post 12 bolt posi

A friend of mine offered to sell me a 12 bolt posi out of a 71 el camino for $100.

Is this a good deal.

What would I need to do to put it in a 82 el camino.

What are the real advantages of positraction.

Thumbs up

Good deal, should bolt right in,traction hook up,If im not mistaken I think those rearends are 1-1/2 inches longer then what you have but to me thats better, because I have a 79 malibu and the stock rearend seems to narrow.I think this would help with sticking some good meaty tires under it with out a special offset wheel.PS.I have one for mine but hav'nt installed it yet

Hey wrenchturner, i understand you have a 79 malibu, i have an 81 Pontiac Grand LeMans, when i bought the car i was told it had some sort of gears in the rear end but the guy wasnt sure, I was told they were out of a camaro, not sure what year, it definately has gears in it, 3 73 is my guess, its not a posi though and i was just wondering if you knew what size my gears are, ive heard ppl saying 8.2 and 8.5, what does that measure? and what kind of car could i get a posi from to directly fit into my car? any help would be great, thx Tim

Dont worry how old you are... it is the mileage on your body that adds up.
