hey guys picked up 65 c10 v8 & 3 wire alt. dropped in hei dist ran for couple mins won't start no mo'. traced low voltage to dist 7-8v, fuse block 3-4v. primary wire from bat to volt reg. & horn relay still hooked up get 3-4v, been along time but isn't that wire resistor wire across rad. support. should i just run new wire to fuse box bypass reg & horn relay( with alt system) with 10ga. for primary feed? thanks jw

You could, but make sure that it will shut off with the key. If the 12 volt sourse is on the charging side of the circuit, it won't shut off.

If you can find the resister wire, just strip it back about a foot or so, and you should have 12 volts.

As mentioned, the HEI has to have a full 12 volt switched power source. Tap it right from the ignition switch.
