15 inch tires
I'm trying to find a wide 15 inch street tire to get that old school look.
I need a tire around 28 inches tall and 12 inches wide, this relates to a 315 50 or 275 60. Mickey Thompson has some new radials that come close, but they jump from 26 inches tall to 31 inches tall. The only tires can find in the size I'm looking for are drag radials. The car is street machine built for low end torque and gas mileage. Thanks Jim |

I am fairly old school and there were not any 12 inch wide tires for the street back in the times I call 'old school' Even the early 1970's were limited to a 8 to 10 inch wide tire. A L60 was 10 inches and considered a Large tire...

You can buy L-60's from Coker Tire Company www.coker.com They are 10 inches wide, they are Old School ( I know because I was there when Old School was New School) You can get them in 4 inch wide whites for a true old school look. They are Bias Ply , just like the original old school tires. They are about a Hundred bucks apiece. Take a look at the ones in my Avatar.

Wide Tires
I had a 66 Merc Comet with a 390 in the late 60's, I had N 50s Mickey Thompson tires, they rub on the fenders so I found a mustang rear end in a junk that was 2 inchs narrower and then the tires fit.
I'm now theying to find a radial tire with the same dimensions. Thanks Jim |
