I broke my share ( and few other folks share too ) of 55 to 64 Chevrolet center sections. They are not much good once you get a big old heavy 55 Chevy into the 13's.

I solved my problem with a 57 Ford 9 inch rear end. It was 2 inches or so narrower that the stock 55 rear end ... stronger and had a way better selection of parts and pieces.

NEW .. 9 inch Ford yokes with the larger 1350 series U-Joints are only 75 dollars. I ran a 28 spline 57 Ford 9 inch under my Big Block 69 Nova ( 4 speed car ) until it ran low 12's ... before I started tearing up stuff. Then the 31 spline axles and center section cured that ...

You need a new driveshaft anyway ... I would go ahead and CURE this issue NOW ...
