174 B&M Blower question...

Just wondering what the most horsepower anyone has seen with one of these on a Big Block Chevy. I am thinking of building another motor and I was curious. Back in 2000 I had a 462 BB with ported Rectangular Port heads, solid cam, 8.24:1. It made 670 horsepower and 646 ft lbs. of torque. Just wondering If I could get 700 Horsepower?

174 Blower Question

I built a small block with a 144 blower and got great results. When you go to more cubic inches you might have to go to a bigger blower, to make it efficient.

I have a friend who is gonna sell me my old one back. He had one on a 427 that ran real strong. The manifold is gasket matched to the LS-7 Heads. Just wondering if anyone has seen dyno numbers more then what I made.

My 142 added about 100 HP to a stock crate small block. You may want to spin it a little faster on that big block. Those mini blowers will usually only produce abut 6-8 lbs of boost on a small block with stock pulleys. It is going to be less with those bigger cylinders to fill I would imagine.

I am surprised that no one has seen any combos with these.

I think that blower is a little under sized fir the motor. Sure it will bolt up but you would get a lot better performance out of something larger. Even if you spin it faster you'll just create more heat and make it less effiecent. But i do belive you can make 700HP with it if you want. Talk with some one who can grind a custome cam and let them know your combo and im sure they can help you reach your goals.

The big question is which heads are better? Worked oval ports with big valves or rectangular ports? Hearing I should go to a 427 and make a little more boost.
