1928 chevy national question for everybody

I just wanted to hear comments from people since we are all diffrent and have our own ideas and styles.

I have a 1928 chevy national, I got the car running in really good condition and everything was in it's original shape. I have added a picture so you guys can see it.

so the Question is, Would you guys keep it all original or would you turn it into a rat rod?

I wouldn't turn it into a rat rod. Maybe a hotrod. My 31 was all original and it would run about 35 to 40 mph. I wanted to be able to drive my car on the highways so I'm updating my drive train. And leaving the body like it is.

If it is all original, then keep it that way. It has existed for 85 years in its current state, I think it would be a disgrace to the car if you altered it. I think it is cool as it sits!

If you have your heart set on a rod and need the space/money, I'd sell the survivor and use the proceeds for whatever. But I wouldn't cut it up.

This thread reminds me of those Model "T" guys at the car shows.......The always looked down on the hot rod guys for modifying their cars.

Its up to you....If you feel the car should be left stock, do that. It can only be stock once. ....If restored to original condition, it is still modified from original, paint body etc.....so its still not really all original

BTW...Those bumpers dont look stock to me....could be wrong

if it were me i would drive it as is , save up some cash, take your time and look at others out there. come up with a plan of what you would like. And then go at it and build it the way you want.

Don't cut it up. It is to nice to do that. Sell it and buy something that is more to your liking. Something that is hot rodded already, running and drivable. That will let you make it your own without boogering up a survivor...

Like my friend always said..''Every car needs a hair cut''' ...:D:thumbup:

85 years of Being the same old original car,, Cut it up !!!!!:mwink:

Drop it off at my house and it will be cut before you leave...;)

No.. All joking a side,, Build what you want, Not what other people want...Don't follow anyone,,Your the only one that has to like it.. It's cool anyway,, But I would still cut it..:D

I have a '32 Confederate that is an original car but I did change out the axles and steering. Now 4 wheel anti lock discs and a Vega steering box. Also I did change out the generator for a 60 amp 12 volt and replaced the bulbs and a Volt a Drop for the gauges. 30-32 MPG; no smog and it gets a lot of looks too. I have even been offered some good money for it. I do have the original sales pares and license plates too. Nice car. My input? Look at Hemmings' Motor News and see what a stock '28 is worth vs a rat rod.

i really really hate the term ratrod.

however i cannot afford a beautiful car like this.
so i found a bunch of "left overs" and tackled my GARAGE BUILT HOTROD.

cutting up a beautiful car is a shame! if you really want what they call a ratrod, find a body to your liking and build it from the ground up.

then you can tell people that you built it, and you didnt tear apart a piece of vintage steel to make somthing, just because you wanted to.

here is a before and current picture of what less experienced people call a "ratrod"

Do anything you like. It belongs to you.

I'd prefer to cut something up that I know the condition of rather than buy something that may be hacked up.

Me and Randy will come over and help you decide. I'll bring my zip cut discs and grinder.

Actual anti-lock system? That sounds like a lot of work!

I would leave the Gennie alone and find one that is not all there for my rod project..
