1932 5-Window Exterior/Interior Door Handles
I am currently trying to install Exterior & Interior Door Handles and Hardware in my '32 Ford 5-Window Coupe Project ....... HELP!
I have a Rat's Glass fiberglass body with Specialty Power Window Kits and glass already installed. I purchased standard Vintique, Inc. exterior & interior door handles for a '32 Ford (square shaft) and Carolina Custom "E-Z" Inside and Outside Handle Installation Kits. There is an "L" shaped clevis that releases the bear claw door latches (already installed) between the outside and inside door skin, and it works great when I release it with my finger through the fiberglass on the interior of the door. MY PROBLEM IS THE GLASS. When the window goes up and down, it will interfere with the square shaft from the outside door handle and there's very little room for the rods/linkage, etc. to either the interior or exterior handles. When I requested installation instructions from Carolina Custom, I was told they don't exist, because everyone does it "differently". I've looked at hundreds of '32 Ford Coupes and my hardware and situation can not be that unique. I do know that the inside handle needs to be slightly lower than the vertical end of the "L" shaped clevis and the horizontal side goes to the exterior handle, but again, what about the glass? I've heard, pulleys - wires/cables - bell cranks, etc. There has got to be an easier way. I'M LOST ..... again, HELP!
