A question fellas. I understand that the 1932 serial numbers for V8 cars started with 18-1 to 18-203,126. I also read they had a star stamped at the beginning and end of the number to prevent someone from adding a number to either end on a stolen car. I have also heard this character described as a 6 or unside down 9.
I wonder if the serial numbers were assigned randomly as orders came in or cars were made or were different models made in batches and a certain groups of serial numbers were assigned to roadsters, Vickys, Tudors etc?
If so, where can I find out what numbers were appropriate for what body style?
Thanks in advance. Jim
