1937 Ford Coupe w/351 Header Help Needed
I am building a '37 Ford Coupe with a 351W/C6 Combo, MII Front End (Rack and Pinion Steering. I do not like the Center Dump Shortie Headers and the Rear Dump Shortie Headers interfer with the steering and firewall.
Has anyone put a full lenght set of Headers in a combo like this (351w/C6) if so, which set did you use (ie 64-73 or 79-93's)
Clark - I have a feeling that you will be hard pressed to find a long tube set of headers on this combination. With the motor mount in the center of the engine, the X member across the chassis, a below the floor master cylinder(assumed), a wide transmission just work against doing that without building them yourself. I ended up with the fourth different set of headers (Summit and I got on a first name basis on that exercise  ) which were Sanderson's. And they were the shorty block huggers. I didn't want that brand and I wanted long ones as well. My steering - it's close, but with u-joints and a stand off bearing, it works. And my '31 has a much tighter chassis.
I have a Cleveland in my 34 coupe.
I installed full length headers. what they needed was one section of the tube cut out (number 7 cylinder) & a larger radius bend put in that allowed the steering arm to pass through the header.
it does make it a tad harder to remove the header if necessary but it works. then I had the headers coated after everything fit in place and run for one summer.
sorry, no pics :embarrass
