1939 buick MOD.41 "frame help"
:confused: I bought a 1939 buick four door about 2 months ago, I got it tore down now. I im looking for some help. I dont care about keeping original, To be honest I plan on driving it alot. "its my dream car" I dont want to keep it hidden in the garage.
What do you guys think I should do? is there a frame that i can just swap. I know the wheelbase is 121 inchs. I found some cars that have the same wheel base, but the frame is to wide. Dose anybody know of a frame that might work?
If not what Would be a good donor car to use for a stub front end. "My brother and uncle Are great welders" If it has to come to that. I have never done anything like that but im sure i can do a bunch of reading and measuring and line it up. Just not sure what would be the best car to use.
I want the outcome to be a old look with the modern tech. If you can help I would Greatly thank you.

I cant kinda anything for the buick. "my luck" everybody i call dont have anything for that year of buick. Everybody sayes call fatmans fab. and the only thing fatmans offer is a weld in. 3,295.00. And to be honest i dont really want to cut this frme. i would like to set it on a diffrent frame and put this frame out back untell my kids are grown the redone the org frame. any help would be great. Plus i really like everybodys ideas? thanks you guys are the bees knees
Autoweld has the facilities to bend up 2" x 3" or 2" x 4" rectangular tubing for you, once you have all the dimensions. I'm not saying have them build the whole mess, just have them bend some of the more difficult bends and angles, then weld the whole thing together yourself.
There is a certain rewarding feeling to putting the car back together with stock front end pieces, but you are stuck with Armstrong steering and brakes that are perhaps....less than adequate in today's driving arena.
I guess we need to find out a little more of how you want the car to perform....
Stock drum brakes or Power-assisted disc brakes?
Stock steering or Power-assisted rack & pinion or power-assisted worm & sector?
Stock drivetrain or later model Buick motor/transmission?
