Hi guys my question is this I have a 1986 jag wiper assembly unit which I want to fit into my 39 chev has anybody out there fitted one of these units and if so could you give me the measurements of the position of the wiper posts from the center of the window. Any information would be appreciated

Welcome to the site.

Not to make you feel bad, but I think your chances of anyone putting that setup in one certain car are slim to none. With so many aftermarket kits, most people would use the kit. If you have the arms from motor to transmission, and towers you could just get a motor for it and a lot less work. You have to have just the right length on the arms or it won't work right, you will not have the right sweep of the wipers. you have the holes for the towers already, I would get the motor if I had all the chevy parts.

Unless the Jag motor is an exact fit or is something unique like a cable drive unit, why are you using it?

Thanks guys for the help someone else on this web site told me about using a xj6 wiper unit because they have a cable drive.

OK, now that makes sense. The cable drive is nice for a rod because you have flexibility in where you mount the motor. Installation should be pretty straightforward. Mount the spindles for the arms where they need to be, figure out where the motor wants to go, and trim the cables if needed.
