1939 olds vin#

I have a 39 olds series 60 . I have to apply for a title in the state of MN. I would like to know what they use for the vin #, would they use the style# or the body# if not were would it be located. Thanks

For 39, the number is located on the left frame side bar opposite the steering gear. The engine number is located on the crankcase behind the left cylinder block parallel to the dash. Hope this helps. Cole

I have also seen a small tag in the driver's A pillar as you open the door (if it is still there) for a vin, the style # / Body # is usually on a tag (once again, if it is still there) on the firewall. It will say Style #, Trim #, paint#, etc on it.

If they are gone, definitely look at the post above me... he's got it.

I have a '39 Olds that has been in the family for 40 years. The VIN on the Tennessee title is shown as F675785. There was a metal tag revetted to the frame by the front suspension with this number also.

We cut the front end off a few years ago, but saved the metal tag.

Oh, and by the way, that VIN is neither the style number or the body number.

vin #

The metal tag by the steering gear is subject to being eaten up by the acid from the battery box located next to it.
There is another one stamped in the left frame rail directly over the rear axle on the top flange of the frame. It takes a wire brush good eyes and some times a magnifier to see it
good luck
