Can anyone confirm this?...it's difficult for me to tell from photo's but they sure look the same. I have a '39 Pontiac 2 door sedan and need some fenders....considering fiberglass.

I know that the complete front ends interchange, as I once had a 39 Chevy coupe with a complete indian front end on it. Only the real Chevy or Pontiac collector guys knew the defference!!

Thanks for that info. I wonder how they can spot the difference....the chevy fenders I know attach to the running boards where the pontiacs don't but man, i stare at one and then the other and I just can't tell any diff.

The GM Fisher Body Service and Construction Manuals are very helpful when doing a total rebuild. It shows body wood (early models), upholstery styles, trim, trunk area and body alignment, dash, door assemblies, locks, exterior moldings, seats, glass, headlining, roof cover, electrical, adjustment and installation procedures

If I remember right, getting old now, most of the bodies were the same - the changes were in the grills, emblems and detailing.

Hi I am also building a 39 pontaic and also haveing trouble finding rear fenders,I have found out that my body style is not compatable to chevy fenders my tag says 39 2511 it would be great if you could give me some insight of some knoledge that you may have found out with this prodject!

There is a small difference in the pontiac fenders as they have a faint ridge that runs down the middle of the fender that chevy does not have. I have a 39 pontiac and just finished a 39 chev. Close, but different none the less.

The model 2511 is a QUALITY 2 DR TOURING SEDAN with a 115" wheel base. The stock engine was a flathead 6 if it had a Pontiac engine or an OHV 6 if the engine was a Chevy. All rear fenders should interchange from what I can discern.

Hollanders shows them as different part numbers- does not mean they will
not fit but are not identical. Jim
