Post 1940 truck front-end

I have a 1940 chevy truck, I want to put on a mustang II front end clip, I know Fatman has a frame stub for $700. does any body know a cheaper front end clip or get one from a junk yard ? I think the width might be wrong for a 1940 ?
thanks need help.

Cool re: 1940 truck front-end

Check Chassis Engineering, Heidts, even RB's.. They have weld in and bolt in (except Heidts) front end kits. Check out the company review section (click on the top right icon)

Post re: 1940 truck front-end

I have put stock Mustang II crossmembers in an award winning '42 Willys tiltup front end pickup and on a '36 Ponitac Sedan. if you are handy with torch and arc welder, it's pretty easy. A lot of people advise that it isn't a good installation but I'll put mine against anyone's aftermarket billet thingie. With not much work it can be made to look factory stock as opposed to the aftermarket add-ons, is very inexpensive, works great and most ip mportant to me, something you can do yourself w/ junkyard parts which is why I am in the hobby in the first place!
