1948 ford f-1, 1981 ford f-150, mustang ll pile up
hello I've looked on the internet lots but still doesn't really help. K i have a 19 48 ford f-1 sitting on a 1981 ford F-150 frame but the front end was to wide so decided to put a straight axle in it out of a internatinal but realized it probally won't handle very well and i can't lower it that much so i was thinking about using a mustang ll front clip like subframe for cost wise has anybody ever used the mustang sumbframe before I don't wanna use the mustang Ifs crossmember kit because of cost and I don't wanna use chevy anything cause chevy doesn't belong on a ford in my mine lol  open to any sugestions are opinions

and I'm also having steering problems with the straight axle so mustang ll will eliminate them lol

Always good to hear from a young person aspiring to be a hotrodder and fabricator. Please allow me to give you a grandfather's opinion. I'm building a 50 now.

In Greek mythology, Sisyphus (Greek: Ancient: [sí.sy.phos], Modern ['] (help·info)) (IPA: /ˈsɪsɨfəs/), was a king punished in Tartarus by being cursed to roll a huge boulder up a hill, only to watch it roll down again, and to repeat this throughout eternity.

Today, Sisyphean can be used as an adjective meaning that an activity is unending and/or repetitive. It could also be used to refer to tasks that are pointless and unrewarding.

The chassis is just too big. A Ranger might have been better.
Develop a better plan. It saves a lot of undue headaches.
Don't fall into the trap of doing everything the hard way, just because it is there.

the 81 frame worked pefect besides being to long and the front end was to wide but already shortened the wheelbase just the front end is the hole problem just the track with is to wide basicly all i wanna know how to weld a mustang front clip on to the 48 like subframe and pics would be cool

Well your learning from the good school " :welcome: school of hard knocks". The mustang clip won't do you any good as they are a uni-body design and must have aprons supporting them. This is why the crossmember kits where made to use just the suspension components not the frame parts. there have been lots of articles over the years about getting the pieces from the bone yard and adapting them to your application.
Not sure about the track width but a Torino from the '70's has a true frame that you could graft the front 1/3 on and get independent suspension or use both ends and get coil springs all the way around if it's not too wide.
