[49 chevy]

I am presently building a 1949 chevy 1/2 ton 5 window. I am a retired cabinetmaker and really enjoying this hobby. I have always had and interest in old vehicles but never had the time or money to complete. Now in little bits at a time I am completing each phase. Getting ready to change the pick to a modern running gear. V/6 Vortex Trottle Body Fuel, 700 r4 Trans. I now have a 1969 Olds diff. 253 gears.
I have never done anything like this before. I am hoping this site will have fellow hottrodders who can lend a hand as I move along with this fun project and help me do it right.

My only recommendation: more gear. 3.73s at least. the 2.53 gears would be good for a non overdrive, but having an overdrive with them woud be economy suicide. the 3.73s will let it get moving easier, and with that 4.3 vortec you need as much "help" as you can get
