1950 something truck

I recently purchased a titled 1950 Chevy Truck. The cab is a 52 (speedo 90mph) and the bed is short for the chassis. I'm not looking to restore it to original so don't care about the mismatch. The serial plate (vin) has the modal listed as AS which I can't cross to anything any year.
The wheels have 8 lugs and the rear springs are double indicating it 3/4 ton chassis . The Wheelbase is 117 inches which is 1/2 ton size. Was there a Chevy special build that's this truck fit or is it just a bunch of parts pulled together?
The Johnny Cash song "One Piece at a Time" Keeps running through my head.
