1951 chevy pickup bed how many boards?

I started this project last year it's time to redo the bed, currently it has a plywood bed, What i need to know is when in 1951 did they go from 9 to 8 boards this truck was built in april in kansas city.

It was mid-year 1951, the Chevy Truck bed changed from nine boards to eight so by you build month yours should have nine boards unless my math is off.JMO

Number of boards

Count the number of holes in the cross member used to bolt down the skid strips.
Eight holes for eight strips mean nine boards and seven holes for seven strips mean eight boards.
The boards are not all the same width but dimensions are available on the web.
You might consider making side boards out of the same wood.
