A lot of folks have gotten caught up in this " Power Rack and Steering " craze but neglect to consider ALL the things involved. The rack needs to be the correct width and the arms the correct length to properly match the original steering geometry. Failure to do so results in a dangerous and hard to drive vehicle ...

Some manufacturers have tooled up for the more popular Tri 5 Chevrolets and the 67 to 69 Camaros ... but the kits are around $750. I know of NO donor vehicle that has the correct rack to adapt to a 51 Chevrolet without a major reworking ... and considerable fabrication skills. It would be easier to use a Pinto/Mustang II front end conversion and then add Power Steering IMHO ... and I am NOT a big fan of Pinto/Mustang II conversions under the 49 to 54 Chevrolets.
