I'm in the process of rodding a '51 Pontiac Chieftain. I have most issues sorted out except for the most important - a front clip!! I'm looking for something cost effective (i.e. something I can get from a junkyard). I've read about nova and S-10 clips but I'm still not sure what would be best. I would like to have power steering and a "driveable" front ride height. I already have a Pontiac 400 engine / trans ready to go. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

I would go to a salvage yard with a tape measure and check the track width of rear wheel drive cars. Many of the front clips simply unbolt from the bodies. It will depend on how you plan on doing the frame, what clip would work best for you.

I used a Nova clip on my 51 Ford pickup....worked real well.
measure what you got now and try to stay close. If you find something a little wide or narrow, the backspacing of the wheels can bring it in where you want it. I used a nova on my 35 ford, but really, whatever you can line up as long as the suspension and steering is heavy enough to meet your needs. Camaros are also a consideration. Spend some time in the bone yard with a tape and save some cash!
