1953 Buick Special-front end rear end??
Greetings:
I have a1953 Buick Special 2Dr 45R series car. My plan would be to upgrade the front end by installing disc brakes and a power steering unit in the front and then swapping out the rear with a later one that has drum brakes. Would installing a Mustang II stub and front end be the way to go? If so, whose kit would you recommend? And, what donor car would you recommend for the rear? Thanking you in advance, John Bach |
I installed a fatman front clip and 96 impala rear under a 50 buick went together without any issue

53 buick
I had a 53 buick special 2 door (about 40 years ago) and I remember a big heavy car. I wouldn't put an MII under it on a bet. Look at this wiki

I looked at the article from crankshaft col, whoever built the upper control arm bracket shouldn't be allowed to look at a welder let alone use one.I thought the same thing about the weight being an issue,we checked the weight and it was 3600lbs not as much as I thought.I talked to fatman and they said there are some COE's running their front suspension without any problems.Yhe MII control arms use bigger balljoints the the fullsize ford trucks and that would be the weak link.personally after using a couple of their front clips I would use it on anything.

Oh buy the way the 96 impala rear I used was narrowed 3" over all.It depends on the wheel and tire you are using, the 50 buick I did had 20x10 torq thrusts.
