I have a chance to purchase a 1953 Cadillac Limo at a decent price. I would like to know about the possibility of doing an engine/transmission replacement for this car. I need to know what engine and transmission combinations work best in these cars. I have seem some with Ford 351W's and C6's, but would like to know if the GM 350 V8 with a 350 TH transmission would work? Any advice would be appreciated. Thank You.

Go with a caddy 500 and turbo 400 transmission. It has the torque to move that weight. Plus it keeps it caddy.

The idea of using a Cadillac 500 never occured to me, and is possibly the best way to go. Will the 500 V8 and 400 transmission fit right in without any modifications? What motor mounts do I use for the engine, and what about mounting the transmission? I know projects like this always run into all kinds of unforseem problems, but I want to plan it out as best I can. Thank You for your help.
