1953 Chevy pickup seat installation
I recently purchased a 1953 chevy pickup. Restoration is nearly complete but..... I took the top 1/2 of my seat out to get the dirt & grime vaccumed and now i can't get it back in. It has the bar across the top with 3 screws and 3 slots on the bottom, but it won't go in again. Do I need to take the bottom out first? Help!

How did the seat come apart in the first place? Did you have to pull some small hitch pins at each side of the seat and pull the back seat bracket out over a stud? If so, it would probably be easier to re-assemble the seat if you take the seat bottom out of the truck.

It's probably the same setup as my 50 pickup. There are 3 female slots in the seat frame bottom and 3 male sections on the bottom of the seat back. Get the slots aligned and push the seat down. Once the bottom is in place the top of the seat will slide over the frame. the screws keep everything in place.
