1955 Wagon Transmission Problem (Linkage)

I am working on a 1955 Station Wagon, installing a 350 engine/turbo transmission. The linkage from the steering column to transmission doesn't fit. Its the original linkage from a '55 to Powerglide. Has anyone had this problem before, or know where I can look for help? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

-Thanks-

1955 Station Wagon continued....

I am working on a 1955 Station Wagon, and I just installed a 350 turbo transmission. There is a rod, about 5/8" in diameter, sticking out of the frame, towards the transmission (on the drivers side). I was wondering if that hooks up with the original linkage, or is it for something else? And is there a website I can go to that is for Station Wagons?

-Thanks-

I converted a '64 El Camino from Powerglide/column shift to TH2004R without any particular problem. I used a kit from BowTie Overdrives. It is just a stainless steel rod with ball & socket joints at each end.
Pretty simple

The rod welded to the frame was used with a bell crank for the original shift linkage. On both of my cars we removed the pivot rod and used a single piece of 3/8" rod from the hardware store bent to fit between the column and transmission and have never had any problems. I did use an original adjuster on the top end tho. I used a piece of welding rod to make a pattern for the larger rod.
