1956 mercury steering column wiring

I have a huge problem! My dad started to rewire our car and then he passed away.He cut out the old harness and left no notes. We bought an EZ Wire kit and most has gone well, but I have no clue how to wire the steering column. It has a light blue,a royal blue,a white,an orange, and 3light greenwires. There is also a 4 post terminal mounted on to of column, with a blackwire connected to it from inside the column.HELP !!!!!!7

Sorry to hear about your Dad.

Here is a wiring diagram for a '57 Merc. The wire colors on the turn signal switch are similar to what you described....Maybe this will help.
(click for link)

According to this diagram:
Green - Feed from brake switch
Blue - Feed from Turn Flasher
Green/Orange - Left Rear
Green/White - Left Front and LH dash indicator
White/Blue - Right Front and RH dash indicator
Orange/Blue - Right Rear

Good Luck....

Go to the painless wire harness web site.....plainlesswiring.com

May not be exact but there are sections in there for seperate switching turn signals and the more modern common signal turns indicators etc...

suprised the EZ manual doesn't cover this

56 merc wiring

Thanx guys,I will look @ the painless stuff.I called them before and the tech didn't know, bit since it was another brand he may not have wanted to help. The EZ Wire kit may not cover it because it's not a vehicle specific harness, too.many variables, but I was a little dissapointed their tech didn't know.Although he was very helpfull with my other questions.
