1957 283 to 700r4 flexplate/starter question

Just got my hands on my all-time dream Chevy truck:

A 1952 3100 5 window.

The brief history is that the guy who was working on it in the US died before finishing it. Basically it's a solid nice patina truck bordering on rat, but very very solid. In the next few years I plan to do a lot to it but bit by bit as other projects have priority, lol.

The problem I'm having is, I got the truck with a 1957 283 (engine code verified) which is mated to a TH700R4,all neatly installed (origionally the truck was a straight six-3spd).

Basically all I have to do is ignition, fluids, starter and exhaust on one side (for now, the 283's out after I finish my 383 stroker)

So here's my question/problem at long last lol!

The 283 has the 153 tooth flexplate on the 700's TC. The starter I got with the truck is a dual pattern, high torque mini-starter. It doesn't line up. The block is threaded for a 3 bolt starter.

The engine show's three mounting holes for the starter in an L shape.

The starter is the generic dual pattern like this:

I can't get it to line up. The holes on the block are in a straight line and the inside hole has another hole behind it.

I can't get this starter to line up with the 153 toothed flexplate. Lined up using the left most holes on the starter gets the bolt closest to the oil plan is off by about 1/4th inch and if I move it over I can bolt it up it seems BUT then the starter will never engage.
Get a 3 bolt to fit the 153 flexplate OR replace the flexplate with a 168 to use this starter?

What do I need to know about the 283 that's 1957 specific? As I understand they have thinner cylinder walls than later blocks so they cant be overbored as much, what could I do with this block (crank/bore etc.) that would be reliable?

My flexplate/starter question is the most important of the two! Otherwise I can't get her running for the summer.

Thanks in advance,

David

The truck btw

Ck a napa store I have a starter with a 3 bolt mounting I can get the number off of later. I don't believe the early 283 to be thin wall castings
